I’m Here
Last updated: 23 June 2026
I’m Here is built on a simple idea: that meeting people should feel natural, respectful, and safe. These Community Guidelines and Safety Policy set out how we expect everyone to behave on the platform, how we handle reports and moderation, and how we keep our community safe — both online and in the real world.
By accessing I’m Here via a venue QR code, you confirm that you have read and agreed to these guidelines. They form part of our Terms and Conditions.
1. OUR EXPECTATIONS
I’m Here connects real people in real venues. The way you behave on the platform has a direct impact on the people around you. We ask every user to:
Be 18 or over and use only your own profile;
Treat every other user with respect, regardless of their intentions, identity, or preferences;
Only send a wave when you genuinely want to connect;
Only message someone after a mutual wave has been made;
Stop interacting if someone makes clear they are not interested;
Respect personal boundaries at all times — online and in person;
Use the block and report features when needed; and
Follow the Terms and Conditions at all times.
2. WHAT IS NOT ALLOWED
The following behaviour is not permitted on I’m Here and may result in a warning, suspension, or permanent ban:
Identity and Profile
Using someone else’s photo or likeness as your profile picture;
Creating a profile on behalf of another person without their consent;
Misrepresenting your age, identity, or intentions;
Creating multiple accounts or profiles; and
Selecting an intention to circumvent another user’s preferences.
Harassment and Harm
Harassing, pressuring, threatening, stalking, or intimidating any user;
Sending waves or messages for commercial, promotional, or solicitation purposes;
Using matched connections to redirect people to external platforms without their consent;
Using information obtained through the platform to locate or contact a person outside the venue without their explicit consent;
Sharing another user’s profile, photo, wave activity, or messages with third parties; and
Using the platform to facilitate in-person meetings for harmful purposes.
Content
Uploading or sharing any content that is obscene, offensive, hateful, violent, sexually explicit, or otherwise objectionable;
Using offensive, discriminatory, or threatening language in your profile or messages; and
Collecting or storing personal data about other users without their consent.
Platform Abuse
Accessing the platform outside of a participating venue with intent to deceive;
Attempting to extend or manipulate session duration artificially;
Creating multiple sessions across devices to circumvent free tier limits;
Reproducing, altering, or sharing unauthorised QR codes; and
Using automated tools, bots, or scripts to access the platform.
3. MODERATION AND ENFORCEMENT
How We Moderate
We operate a three-strike escalation system for community guideline violations. All reports are reviewed by our moderation team.
First report (minor violation): Account flagged. Warning issued.
Second report: Account reviewed. Ban recommended and applied where appropriate.
Serious single report: Immediate and permanent ban without prior warning. No strike threshold required.
What constitutes a serious report includes but is not limited to: sexual harassment, threats of violence, sharing another user’s data without consent, stalking, and any conduct that poses a risk to the physical safety of another person.
Bans and Suspension
Users who are permanently banned from the platform forfeit any remaining subscription period without entitlement to a refund. Banned users are prohibited from creating new accounts.
We reserve the right to share relevant information with venue partners, law enforcement, or emergency services where we believe it is necessary to protect the safety of any person.
Appeals
If you believe a moderation action against your account was made in error, you may appeal by emailing support@im-here.live with the subject line ‘Moderation Appeal’. We will review your appeal and respond within 14 days. We are not obligated to reinstate any banned account.
4. BLOCK AND REPORT
When You Block Someone
You will no longer see their profile;
They will no longer see your profile;
Messaging and interaction between you is disabled; and
You will not be matched with them again.
When You Report Someone
Your report is submitted to our moderation team for review;
Action may be taken, including warnings, suspension, or removal;
Reports are confidential — the other user will not be notified that a report has been made; and
Serious concerns may be escalated to venue staff or authorities where appropriate.
We take all reports seriously and act on them to help keep the community safe. You are in control. You can block or report any user at any time.
5. IN-PERSON SAFETY
Before You Meet
Take time to chat and get a sense of the person before agreeing to meet face to face;
Do not share personal details such as your home address, workplace, or phone number;
Trust your instincts — if something feels off, do not continue.
When Meeting in Person
Stay in public, busy areas of the venue;
Let a friend or family member know where you are;
Keep your belongings and drinks with you at all times; and
Arrange your own transport so you can leave when you want.
During Interactions
You are never obligated to continue a conversation or meeting;
It is always okay to leave if you feel uncomfortable; and
Respect should always go both ways.
If Something Does Not Feel Right
Use Block to prevent further contact;
Use Report to flag inappropriate behaviour for review;
Speak to venue staff if you need immediate help; and
If you feel unsafe in a venue, you can discreetly ask a member of staff for help using Ask for Angela — a UK-wide safety initiative. See Section 6 for full details.
6. ASK FOR ANGELA
I’m Here is a proud supporter of Ask for Angela, a UK-wide safety initiative that helps people discreetly signal when they feel unsafe or vulnerable in bars, venues, and events.
Ask for Angela was launched in 2016 and is now recognised across the United Kingdom and beyond. It is backed by National Pub Watch and Best Bar None.
How It Works
If you feel unsafe or uncomfortable at any point during your time at a venue, you can approach any member of staff and ask: “Is Angela working tonight?” This is the recognised codeword that signals you need help, discreetly and without drawing attention.
Trained venue staff will respond calmly and discreetly. They will:
Move you to a designated safe space within the venue;
Inform a manager or supervisor without drawing attention;
Listen to what you need using active listening techniques;
Help you to stay safely or leave safely, based on your wishes; and
Escalate to security or call 999 if the situation requires it.
You are not expected to explain yourself or prove anything. All requests are treated seriously. Trained staff will not question whether you ‘really’ need help.
What Ask for Angela Is Not
Ask for Angela is not a counselling service. Venue staff are there to help you feel safe and leave or stay safely — they are not expected to solve or resolve personal disputes. If you are in immediate danger, call 999.
Our Commitment
We strongly encourage all venue partners and event organisers who operate I’m Here to display Ask for Angela signage and to have trained staff available during any session where I’m Here is active. This reflects our shared commitment to user safety in real-world settings.
For more information about Ask for Angela, visit askforangela.co.uk.
7. YOUR SAFETY IS A PRIORITY
Meeting people in real life through I’m Here should feel comfortable, respectful, and entirely in your control. Our Safety Hub in the app gives you access to all safety guidance, block and report tools, and Ask for Angela information at any time during your session.
If you have a safety concern that is not resolved through the in-app tools or venue staff, contact us directly at support@im-here.live. For serious or immediate concerns, always contact the police.
8. UK ONLINE SAFETY ACT 2023
I’m Here is a user-to-user platform and is subject to the UK Online Safety Act 2023. We take our obligations under this Act seriously, including our duties to protect users from illegal content and content that is harmful to adults, to operate a clear and accessible complaints process, and to be transparent about our approach to moderation and safety.
These Community Guidelines, our moderation system, our Safety Hub, and our Ask for Angela integration are all part of our commitment to meeting those obligations.
9. CONTACT
For any safety concerns, moderation queries, or appeals, contact us at support@im-here.live. For immediate danger, always call 999.
